  • There were a few times in the past. Large indoor market, full of sfiziosita, sandwiches with pork Ariccia by fainting, tables in the back garden to sit and eat and rest for walking in the streets of Rome. We attempted to repeat the experience but nothing: closed for municipal Ordinance. A piece of Rome that I liked a lot that goes along with the stalls of piazza Navona Epiphany ...

  • The market is under cover, offers a wide range of high quality products but the reason for recommending the visit is not the market itself but the courtyard, behind him. Equipped with rough wooden planks for a snack, it also gives you access to a kind of down at heel dopolavoro of VV. UU. So what? Then its characteristic of interest is the view of the adjacent Temple of Janus: a lust of the spirit! I imagined this space cleaned and tidy, respectful of antiquity that you breathe; I depicted in the evening and with adequate lighting. It would be like heaven on Earth, a beneficent spirit lash. But, you know, what our ancestors have done for Olympus, we often rush into Hades.

  • Via di San Teodoro 74, just steps from the Circo Massimo and close to the Capitol, in one of the most beautiful streets of Rome which runs alongside the Roman Forum and the Palatine, is a jewel of industrial architecture designed by Gaetano Koch (1849-1910). It consists of a metal structure with a stained glass where before there was the Jewish fish market and later was turned into a covered parking for cars full regulatory structures beauty service. From about 7 years (October 2010), fortunately, this precious space of 1300 sqm was assigned to the Coldiretti Lazio that had launched the initiative of the covered market of Campagna Amica in the Circus Maximus. Since this space is an excellent meeting point between producer and consumer, a "Farmer's market" only holidays (only open Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 to 16:00) which is frequented by Romans but also from the many tourists. Inside there are many stands and stalls of all kinds that sell products in the Lazio countryside, in km or, as they say now. My wife and I, who for two years now, let us consider the market a fixed stage Saturday morning, we have our favorite stands: we buy fruits and vegetables in Sezze, Lawrence House cheeses of Picinisco, pork meat reared in freedom of the reatino, range chicken meat and veal of the agro pontino, the dairy products of Pontinia, traditional sweets always of Sezze. There is a stand that sells homemade pasta at the time in various formats of kamut (wheat varieties rich in proteins, amino acids, minerals and vitamins already known in ancient times and today produced biologically), another that sells beer, others that expose jams and sauces of all kinds; You can find fresh bread, fish sold in a separate area, flowers and many other products of all kinds. There is also an outdoor courtyard with tables and benches (there is also a kiosk that sells smoothies and juices) to eat the products purchased or the dishes we prepare a farm at lunchtime for an alternative meal consumed in an area of Rome. Unfortunately on Saturday 11 February the farmers market in Rome was closed by order of the offices of the municipality of Rome for the refusal of the extension that would allow market participants to continue selling products to the publication of the announcement for the allocation of the building that houses the Farmers market. Since the market is closed: hopefully the Mayor grant Ray the extension to reopen the market of the Circus Maximus which made known to all, citizens and tourists, the gastronomic heritage of Italy's largest farming municipality, reconstructing a link between territory, agriculture and cities.

  • It looked really amazing, would have loved to shoppe cured meats and honey and other produce here, but unfortunately it was closed due to a union related lockout (some local municipality dispute I think). I hope it opens up again!
  • really great market. It is currently closed at this spot, though it may reopen if the city gets on the ball, but they open every weekend at different locations now, so check the website!
  • Really good market for organic produce. Being locally sourced and organic, the price are pretty high, but its worth it. There's even places to sit in the back garden to eat.
  • Products from farmers on the Lazio area around Rome. Good place to buy fresh produce, cheese or ham. You can also eat simple things like pasta, should or panini so you can also have lunch there
  • Nice market. Didnt buy anything.

Where to stay in Rome

For easy foot access to most of the city's main historical sites, consider staying in Rome's old town center. The area is conveniently placed for public transport, only a walk away from the city's main railway station. Accommodations here span all hotels sectors, from cheap hostels to luxury brand names. To avoid the steep prices and overcrowding of the town center, explore the hotels in the inner suburbs of Rome. They offer comfortable rooms and excellent food at a fraction of the price charged by the centrally located hotel chains. Another affordable option is the area around Vatican, which boasts a good selection of family-owned B&Bs.
