Categories: Bridges, Ruins, Nature & Parks, Tourist Spots
Cross a bridge from 62 BCE to reach Isola Tiberina, a tiny boat-shaped island which sits in the Tiber River as the river passes through Rome. See the old hospital on the island, which has been associated with healing since the building of the 3rd century BCE temple of Aesculapius, the Greek god of medicine and healing. Rest a while on one of the benches on the small island before heading back into the city. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Rome holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Isola Tiberina and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.
