  • It is a figure in Roman mythology of which little is known, although Anna Perenna was an archetype of the Mother, and then as a deity position of importance and meanings. Goddess who was celebrated on 15 March, the day of the new year according to the primitive Romans Ides. It is true that the interpretations of Anna Perenna are more than one: goddess of abundance and nourishment, water, sister of Queen Dido, former Etruscan deities of the Earth, a woman who helped the Plebs during a period of civil clashes in Rome. As you can see many hypotheses or versions, however whatever its origin that established by the sources is that the deity presiding over the course of the year and ensured the continuous renewal. II discovery, during excavations for the construction of a parking lot, led to the discovery of the site, the remains of a sacred spring with bathtub. The latter was powered by a tank that returned most of the artifacts connected with the cult and magical rites. Among them: small sheets of lead with engraved curses against their enemies (= defixiones), anthropomorphic figurines with inscriptions on the shoulders and chest contained in small containers of lead, lucerne for ritual use with carved to scratch the defixiones, a copper cauldron votive inscriptions referring to the goddess and her nymphs, many coins (= 540), pine cones and egg shells as well as an altar dedicated to the goddess. The site was possible to connect a sacred site, located in the immediate vicinity, also thanks to many wooden fragments recovered from. Much of this material is currently stored in a special area at the National Roman Museum of the baths of Diocletian. Evaluation of the visit good, namely "+++" and should be completed with one of the baths of Diocletian.

  • A recent discovery, fortuitous during the excavation at the parco della Musica and pariolina piazza Euclide, has unearthed the source dedicated to a deity of archaic Rome of origins; It is a rectangular structure bearing lettering on the sides in the name of the goddess and, in the rear were brought to light finds about magical rites and religious. The visit is possible entering underground site at a cave in the Monti Parioli. The presence of hermetically sealed containers with real "voodoo dolls" within them, are completely changing the perspective and knowledge on the relationship of the ancient magical-religious sphere: there was the presence of real witches professional women at the fountain in piazza Euclide.
