  • A very unique structure. Walked by it twice at night and couldin't figure what this sculpture represented. Went by it by day and discovered this was a fountain of Moses. This fountain was built to mar...  more »
  • Fountain in an unfortunate location for road conditions and the difficulty of observing carefully the details. Commissioned by Sixtus V with travertine marble and stucco materials. Opened on 15 June 1587. It has three large niches with four columns placed on high stilobati; in the Center we see a Moses certainly not nice and flanked by two reliefs depicting scenes from the Bible. Further down we find water flowing into three pools surrounded by four porphyry and marble lions, maybe later replaced with others. Above the columns runs a cornice with the dates of creation of the work (1585-1587) and a large attic surmounted by the Papal coat of arms supported by two angels. Many interventions of maintenance that repeated themselves over the centuries. Shame about the location just adequate, awkward to observe well, however the Moses remains bad and the fountain instead, in its overall structure, reveals a level of pleasantness and high with a name that makes the idea of its existence.

  • Arrived in Largo Santa Susanna to visit the Church of Santa Maria della Vittoria, I literally run over by the grandeur of the "View of the Acqua Felice", in practice the first Fountain (although not the most successful ...) built as a water exhibition in Rome. Amazing history tied to construction, with first the failure of Matthew Bortolani, and the takeover by Giovanni Fontana. Agree, the monument looks ungainly, with the penthouse too big, tiny spires, and most importantly, the "Moses" of Brescia squat (fantastic "pasquinate" which were dedicated to him!) and with the anachronism of the tablets of the law, made perhaps in the rush of clients ... But one can not remain struck by the Majesty of the project, from the statue (at that time ruled the "Gigantism" Michelangelo style ...), by the beauty of the waters. I liked it, although with different impressions, almost more than the adjacent church.

  • Betty beautiful fountain. Try to find all in Rome.
  • A lovely fountain located in the Piazza Di San Bernardo.
  • I really liked how this fountain was built up against the actual building. If you are walking by you almost don't realize its a fountain.Worth a look for sure.
  • You don't realize kts a fountain, until you stop to take a photo of the whole structure.
  • You will never guess there is a hotel inside 😀
