  • Walking in this area to reach Trastevere we crossed this fountain attached to the building where it is located. It would also be nice, too bad it is quite abandoned and require some cleaning/accommodation.

  • This is not a thing. There are lots of beautiful old fountains in Rome. This is not one of them. It’s not old, it’s not interesting. You can look at it while you are waiting at the stoplight to cross ...  more »
  • When you come to the Porto di Ripa Grande, on the side of the Tiber River, on the Trastevere of the Spricho Bridge, there is a timane fountain on the wall of the building facing the street. The Portese gate is just around the corner. You can see the Aventino Hill in front of you. The front of the fountain is like the Leopa Grande Port of the Tiber River, and as it seems to be associated with it, a large rudder is designed and the emblem of the "S.P.Q.R." character often found in ancient Roman ruins. However, the fountain was built in 1927. There seems to be a meaning that the fountain as a monument of the river traffic of the Tiber of past days was installed near the ancient port. I visited the afternoon of a hot day, but the local people put water away from the fountain in the pet bottle.

  • This travertine fountain, although situated in the Trastevere district, represents the Rione Ripa in the rudder symbol. It is located on the San Michele complex. From the center of the rudder comes out the water that pours a semicircular basin. Cup-shaped. On the sides there are two coats of arms that represent the municipality of Rome with the inscription SPQR. The fountain was built in the thirties and is part of the series of the Rional Fontanelles, designed by the architect Pietro Lombardi and was built in front of the disappeared port of Ripa Grande, NOTE 1 Meaning of SPQR from the Latin "Senatvs Popvlvs Qve Romanvs". In Italian "The Senate and the Roman people". NOTE 2 The Fountains of the DISTRICTS: They are very characteristic and are adorned with the emblem or symbols characteristic of the district that represent were commissioned in 1926 by the Governor of Rome, and the task was assigned to Pietro Lombardi, the architect who had already built the fountain of Amphorae of Testaccio, performed them in about three years. Here is the list of the remaining fountains: 1) FOUNTAIN OF AMPHORAE-R. TESTACCIO 2) FONTANA DEL TIMONE-R. RIPA 3) FOUNTAIN OF THE BARREL-R. TRASTEVERE 4) FONTANA DELLE TIARE-R. BORGO 5) FOUNTAIN OF CANNONBALLS-R. BORGO 6) FOUNTAIN OF BOOKS-R. Sant'Eustacchio 7) FOUNTAIN OF THE ARTISTS-R. CAMPO MARZIO 8) FONTANA DELLA PIGNA-R. PIGNA 9) FONTANA DEI MONTI-R. MONTI

  • Here it is, another local fountain of Lombardi, 1927, celebrating the late port of Ripa Grande. Two side berths where water flows, a central water comes out of a rudder, a small lighthouse and the vast pool of water collection. So much beauty, very simply.
