  • Right next to one of Rome's busiest places (the Barcaccia di Piazza di Spagna and the steps of Trinity of the Mountains) there is this extraordinary oase of peace: the house inhabited by Giorgio De Chirico from 1948 to his death in 1978, left by his widow Isabella on his death in 1990 at the eponymous foundation with all his furnishings and a remarkable endowment of works (paintings and sculptures) of the artist. It is a rather exclusive place, the visit is limited to groups of 10 people in three shifts (at 10.11am and 12pm from Tuesday to Sunday, excluding August), with reservation (not prepaid) on the internet. In our case we booked without difficulty just seven days in advance. The visit was of considerable interest, also thanks to the explanations of the foundation's companion (who demonstrated not only competence, but also a good deal of enthusiasm in the performance of his task). The works on display are several dozen and well representative of the last 40 years of De Chirico's activity. The added value of the visit is that it is not a cold museum but a house still alive as if it were inhabited, in a fantastic location (the view from the windows on the square and On Trinity of the Mountains is extraordinary, too bad that for security reasons you can not accept adhere to the terrace). The only negative note is the absence of tags next to the works, but I realize that if there were harms precisely the feeling of intimacy of a living home. It is allowed to photograph and it is worth it for the beauties of the rooms and the photogenicity of De Chirico's works (the lighting is quite good). Overall a highly positive experience, at a decidedly modest price of 7.50 euros (5.00 over 65 years)

  • It's the most beautiful and interesting "thing" I've seen in Rome recently. It is an experience, also thanks to the guidance that brings you into the life and artistic experience of the Master. Unfortunately or fortunately there were very few of us. To accompany with the recent essay entitled "Giorgio De Chirico metaphysical images ". Thanks to the Foundation and its Incharge and Expert.

  • We hadn't realised that it was necessary to book online in advance. The guide book made no reference. When we arrived at the house a lady in the entrance told us to go away and book online. Having exp...  more »

  • Small group tours of the De Chirico house with English and Italian language guidance. The house is full of the artist’s original furniture and collected works from multiple periods in his life. Guides are friendly and knowledgeable. Pre-booking is required for 7 Euro. Since there isn’t much else to do near the Spanish steps (other than shop and eat at overpriced restaurants) this museum is an easy one-hour activity and well, well worth it.
  • If you’re interested in Giorgio de Chirico, to visit his home and studio is highly recommended. You must reserve in advance online. Tours last an hour and are available in English and Italian, but only certain hours and days.
  • Wow, I was pretty blown away by De Chirico’s home and studio, which is filled with his art and overlooks both Spagna and Villa Medici. Book intimate group tours in advance on their website.
  • They don't answer E-Mails, don't pick up the phone and don't make clear when to call. Also they haven't displayed any opening hours on google or on their webpage. I don't know how the museum actually is, but if it's like their presentation, I can't give it more than 1 star
  • Fantastic tour, easy booking experience. highly recommend
