  • A very impressive Museum House where lived the painter/sculptor for over 30 years. Remained as it was when he lived with his wife. Beautiful location and a gem hidden in Rome. Shame about the maintenance that is not well cared for by the keepers because we found the House full of dust with stains on bed covers that with a little care can be easily removed.

  • A chance to see inside the last living place of de Chirico with just a few other people. His living areas and his studio are part of the tour and there are plenty of his works to see too.The house is ...  more »

  • Fantastic tour, easy booking experience. highly recommend
  • They don't answer E-Mails, don't pick up the phone and don't make clear when to call. Also they haven't displayed any opening hours on google or on their webpage. I don't know how the museum actually is, but if it's like their presentation, I can't give it more than 1 star
  • This museum turned us away as we were late for our booked time due to our train being delayed. Very disappointed :-(
  • The home of Giorgio de Chirico occupies three floors of the seventeenth-century Palazzetto dei Borgognoni Spanish Spain at number 31. The artist lived here the last thirty years of his life, together with his second wife Isabella Pakszwer Far who continued to live there until 1990, the year of his death. Arrived in Rome in 1944, after a long wander between several European cities and an important stay in New York, de Chirico resides permanently in the House of Spanish Spain from 1948, at the age of sixty years. The House, located in a strategic position, in the heart of what was once considered the artistic and cultural centre of the city since the 17th century – with the ateliers in Via Margutta and Via del Babuino, galleries, the historic Caffè Greco in Via Condotti, and the fascinating scenery of Trinità dei Monti and Villa Medici – represented for the mature artist the perfect place to settle down and keep working. Inaugurated on 20 November 1998, anniversary twentieth anniversary of the death of Pictor Optimus, the House-Museum offers a unique opportunity to approach the private world and everyday life of the artist, as well as access to its original artistic imagination, in a amazing and impressive interplay between art and life. The restoration of the interiors and furnishings, typical of the 1950s, where it was possible to taste were performed with philological rigor, according to photographs and memories. The sumptuous rooms of the main floor we plunge into a large 17th-century style salons rubenesque, with a large number of works, some precious red damask curtains in gold frames, (remade according to the original), silvers, cherubs wood, marble tables and Louis XVI chairs: the most vital part of the House, bustling place of meetings and receptions. Paintings and sculptures are on display, aiming to make the public aware of the different subjects and themes developed by the master, leading us along a fascinating path: from the selection of works from the years ' 40 and ' 50 – including some admirable D'APRES from large Masters, portraits of Isabella and self-portraits – through the particular corpus of "silent Lives" on display in the dining room, to the painting of the last ten years of his career, the so-called "Neometaphysical", visible at the new home purchased in the late 1960s. Finally, bronze sculptures, then, gold or silver, like silent appearances in various environments, classical myths tell reinterpreted according to de Chirico's imagination or the characters of his personal mythography. On the second floor, we find the most intimate environments of the House, the bedrooms and the artist's studio. The latter, reconstituted in the way as close as possible to the existing one when we worked de Chirico, is certainly the most impressive: the light filtering from large skylight in the ceiling rests on the stand and on the many craft items – brushes, colors, frames, and palette used by master – left there as ready for the next job. Several plaster models of ancient statues, Gladiators and horses, above the artist's personal library

  • Reservation Web site should be. There are 3 visits 10, 11 and 12 hs. Closed Mondays I know it that I went on a Monday. It is not clear on the website. Pity that it is one of my favorite artists and I will not return to Rome x long. They should take another kind of policy given the importance of De Chirico in the art world.
