  • Daily tour was the spectator in the place. Follow the instructions in the Guide to the maze catacombs when you attend may easily accessible but not hideous cool experience there.

  • We were there with 13 people including young people. Great commentary in german by a priest who leads there for 21 years. Interesting and nicely presented. Class. Should you have seen.

  • First time in Rome - so much to see and do but very thankful to have been on the Crypts and Catacombs tour with Andy from CityWonders. Like most tour guides he was knowledgeable - but he stood out bec...  read more »
  • I was so disappointed in this place! First off, the "tour" here is only about 30mins, 20 of which is sitting or standing listening to the guide talk about the history of catacombs and their significance. The actual time in the catacombs themselves was about 10mins!?! Secondly, I don't know how this place can call themselves catacombs when there are no bones here anymore!? You literally just walk down a few tunnels, in a room, down another tunnel, and then past the "last supper" painting and that is the extent of the tour!? This place is a total ripoff for 8 euro and a complete tourist trap! I have no clue how it came so highly recommended on so many different travel websites and guidebooks! I even asked the desk clerk, who I bought my ticket from, if I was missing something because that could not have been it and where the bones were, since there were several pics on various websites of skulls and bones. She said they have not had bones since the catacombs were excavated and that if I saw that I must have confused it with the catacombs in Paris. Seriously? I definitely do not recommend this place at all! I am sure there are better catacombs in Rome to be toured, or save yourself the money and walk through some subway tunnels, it is about the same experience.
  • Worth seeing if you are interested in early Christian history or have never seen a catacomb. Unfortunately you will be forced to join a large group tour with a priest/guide that is not particularly interesting or informative.
  • Nice and cool inside! A great break from the Rome heat and you get to learn a lot!
  • For an american catacombs are definitely unique so I was excited to go. Don't worry about it being scary unless you are very claustrophobic. Great bit of history.
  • Normally, I'm not a guy who writes reviews on touristic spots, but the catacombs were a disappointment. I have already been to a couple of catacombs (Paris, Vienna..) and went to this with high expectations. What I got for 8 euros was a short 40 minutes walk with a guide without any expressions and a strong Italian accent (ok, we are in Italy, but still..). Moreover, the removed all the bones from the tombs which made the tour kind of boring. Sure, you get a impression of how I looked like be even the location of the catacombs isn't the best. I wouldn't recommend to go there even if this are the biggest catacombs of Rome .
