  • By those who think that any country can be well narrated historically, culturally, gastronomically and currently? Certainly by those who come from the same Country, but maybe you already live for years in your own city. In addition, if this country is an unusual Country, often far from the usual tourist circuits better yet. In addition, if the meeting with these people is done eating, drinking with their own local specialties, and are themselves to offer them is the non-plus-ultra! So if you're looking for an evening of ethnic food, discuss, listening to music and dance--and, only last in the list but first in importance, also solidarity to people less fortunate than ourselves-then Cucimondo is for you! Brought from home eager to listen and learn, desire to know the news and the recent past of Nations and peoples without the filter of the Italian and international press, bring a plate and cutlery: the rest will think the guys of the Association Cucimondo and the inhabitants of ... you want some examples? Argentina, Poland, Kyrgyzstan, Philippines, Bangladesh, Senegal, Cape Verde, Ethiopia, Niger, Uzbekistan ... For one Friday a month we meet in a never too big to know Hall of San Lorenzo and get to know one another; each time is a new emotion sounds, colors and tastes. On other occasions, on Saturday mornings there are also ethnic cooking classes and other cultural venues of cinema and literature, always related to the countries almost strangers presented at Cucimondo. Unique to say the least!

  • From the kitchen of a State you can understand the peculiarities of a people? If your answer is Yes, then you have to try an experience like this. Cucimondo, is an association created with the aim of helping these people (many distressed for wars, dictatorships, famines, ecc.ecc.) allows us to get to know these new realities around us. Integration is difficult, respect sometimes misses, but meet up like this helps. Once a month Volunteers organize one of these dinners by contacting the various associations or groups that represent the peoples of these countries. We meet usually on Fridays for dinner, you will help with any amount, expenses, will go to charity for different activities (schools, foster homes and whatnot). Both the volunteers that the State representatives called "concerned" before discussing the various courses that you will use later (how you cooked and with what ingredients), talk about their experiences, they arrive in Italy, of integration, of the positive and negative aspects of their home countries, remaining among other things always available to answer various trivia. All this is explained with the help of photos, movies, music, and sometimes even dancing. It is the second year that I go and every time I look forward to the next is an enriching experience. As a seller many years ago ... SEEING IS BELIEVING

  • I attend the intercultural evenings of this commendable Association now for over 2 seasons, and I appreciate your organization and purpose, more than ever in an age like this, in which conflicts and tensions between different peoples have worsened: Cucimondo proves that "different is beautiful" and that the differences are worth, not walls but bridges. Thanks to the tireless and Irene Sayora (not to mention other activists) people meet in a room of San Lorenzo 1 Friday per month to enjoy the local traditions of the countries of the 5 continents, prepared directly from the hands of people who come from those lands, and who tell their life stories by listening to their music, performing in their dances explaining their native culture. By Cucimondo I expanded my views and explored virtually the globe, coming closer to reality "other": Niger/Poland/Kurdistan/Philippines/Bangladesh/Senegal/Ethiopia/Sikh ... is it really true that it becomes all brothers! With the hope that the brotherhood to continue even in everyday life.

Where to stay in Rome

For easy foot access to most of the city's main historical sites, consider staying in Rome's old town center. The area is conveniently placed for public transport, only a walk away from the city's main railway station. Accommodations here span all hotels sectors, from cheap hostels to luxury brand names. To avoid the steep prices and overcrowding of the town center, explore the hotels in the inner suburbs of Rome. They offer comfortable rooms and excellent food at a fraction of the price charged by the centrally located hotel chains. Another affordable option is the area around Vatican, which boasts a good selection of family-owned B&Bs.
