  • It is a very nice column in the middle of Rome. It was impossible to get very close to it due to barriers so bringing a camera with a lens will let you see the most. I wouldn't go out of my way to see...  more »
  • Column composed of 27 drums of marble figures in bas-relief spiral that had initially the statue of Marcus Aurelius on the upper part, which was replaced in the 16th century by the statue of St. Paul. With its 42 meters is somewhat higher than his predecessor Trajan column. Column inside a staircase is a spiral that leads up to the top. It is impressive to see the bas-reliefs. The multitude of images carved with meticulous detail about the battle scenes commemorating the victories of the Marcomannic wars. It is in sight on the piazza Colonna and it is interesting to see it up close.

  • It was a grandiose construction for its time. The column is made of white Carrara marble, outside spiral performed bas-reliefs depicting fragments of the battle the Romans led by Marcus Aurelius with Germans and Sarmatians on the banks of the Danube. Inside the hollow column, there is a spiral staircase leading to the top. The statue at the top of the object, not the original, here now is a bronze figure of the Apostle Paul.

  • One of the many sites of Rome. Worth taking a walk to take a look. It's very impressive showing ancent victories.
  • Gorgeous! Don't miss it
  • Amazing art work! It looks like a 3D-painting around the column.
  • Don't forget this place and his remarkeble history.
  • A column dedicated to Marcus Aurelius's victories. I'd have to say that compared to Trajan's column, this one is more defined in that you can see the outline of the battles more clearly. It is truly impressive.
