  • I was there one morning, alone, just after the opening. There was just me walking around this wonderful place, full of tranquility and poetry. True, Rome gives us some pearls, just knowing how to look for!

  • To remove an hour from the city, with amazing views from behind the cestia pyramid and retrace the history of thousands of people who have ended their lives in Rome. The graves of famous people like Gramsci, Keats, Goethe are the reference points for a trip to the monumentality of death. Intense.

  • One of the most famous and certainly not in Rome but it's really worth a visit. Is located in the Testaccio area, near porta San Paolo; Here are buried those who weren't (and aren't) Catholics and foreigners; the Italian people will need a special permit. You stroll among late-19th-century monuments or graves with a chance to bump into famous burials such as Antonio Gramsci, Carlo Emilio Gadda, Arnoldo Foà and, in the oldest part, John Keats and Percy Shelley. Through the cemetery you can reach and observe the famous Piramide Cestia, which forms an integral part of the walls of the cemetery. Finally, for lovers of cats, the cemetery is one of the main sanctuaries of Rome, with a lot of cats that can be found especially in the area near the pyramid of cestius. Admission is free; you ask only a small donation for the upkeep of the facility.

  • A very special and beautiful place, surrounded by greenery where you can also see a side of the pyramid of Cestius. Spicco detail have, among others, the tombs of Gramsci, Shelley, Keats or Foa. Is fairly well maintained.
