  • This church is located near Piazza Navona. This church offers free viewing of Caravaggio's works. I was not able to see Raphael's work unfortunately because it was under construction in the church and was doing mass. I was the only one who was watching in the morning of Heisei.

  • Very close to Piazza Navona and the Church of St. Louis of the French (which has 3 works of Caravaggio): the Church (Basilica since 1999) is squeezed between two streets in the shelter of an arch, so it is not random to pass in front of it. The facade is sober (inspired by Santa Maria Novella in Florence) but the interior is immediately impressive: 3 aisles with different views, views, chapels, light ... On a column in the nave there is Raphael's fresco. In the Chapel Cavalletti there is the Madonna of the Pilgrims of Caravaggio, absolutely magnificent. Above the entrance door the huge organ, reworked several times. At the entrance the Madonna Statue of the Birth of Sansovino, much revered also judging by the many celestial and pink bows, hanging on the walls.

  • Not far from Piazza Navona, it is one of the first Roman churches of the Renaissance, and is the first of Rome equipped with a dome. The travertine used to "pull up" the facade is bare material of the Colosseum... thing very much in use at that time. In 1756 the Vanvitelli did a radical modification work that also included the bell tower of the 400. That renovation gives us the interior with Latin cross with subdivision to 3 aisles and 5 chapels on the side. And there are many masterpieces that bear high-sounding names: Sansovino, Caravaggio, Raphael,Bernini, Guercino. I paused to admire Our Lady of the Pilgrims... I couldn't get away from it. There are also many tombs: one of them is kept the bare of S. Monica. Since 1999 it has been elevated to Basilica Minor.
