  • The oratory of St. Andrew is part of the complex of the Speakers of Celio along with those of Santa Silvia and Santa Barbara. The three buildings are located at the end of a garden accessed from the middle of the staircase of St. Gregory's Church. Generally they are not open so visiting them is not easy, unless you book a guided tour in advance. Also from this garden is access to the complex of the Nuns of Charity where at certain times you can be accompanied to see the room where Mother Teresa of Calcutta slept during her visit to Rome.

  • In the heart of rione Celio, near the Church of St Gregory, is the Oratory of Sant'Andrea, a real gem. Built around the 12-13th century by order of Gregory the great and restored in ' 600 contributions Davies kidneys and the Dominican

  • You should visit the speakers with guided tours and book-don't go there alone! I was there Sunday at 11 all closed no one responds to telephone numbers, the parish priest of St. Gregory knew not how to help also I tried again about noon nothing doing degradation

  • Very beautiful Church, take care about the open time: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, morning time from 9:30 till 12:30.
  • In the Celio ward, in St. Gregory's Square, hidden by a small garden, there is a small church, with beautiful frescoes on the walls: it is the church of St. Andrew at the Celio. He is one of the three speakers of the Celio, The oratory, built according to tradition by Gregory the Great in his father's house, was dedicated to the Apostle Andrew because, according to tradition, the then abbot of the monastery of Celio, Gregory, returned from his trip to Constantinople with a relic of the Apostle. To visit.

  • In fact there are three speakers, the third added at the end to complete the symmetry. Guido Reni, the Domenichino, the marble table/slab on which Gregory distributed the meal to 12 poor people. Not everyone knows that the angel on Castel Sant'Angelo places the sword to symbolize the end of a pestilence, it was a vision of Gregory. A set for fine palates, behind an anonymous gate on the left side of the staircase of St. Gregory's Church. One of the many surprises of the amazing eternal city.

  • Don't miss that it knows ancient with huge and well-preserved frescoes from the 16th year

  • The oratory, built according to tradition by the same Gregory the great in his paternal home, owes its present form to the remaking carried out by Cardinal Baronio and Scipione Borghese. Very important is the decorative apparatus that he saw at the opera Guido Reni, Domenichino and Giovanni Lanfranco. It is one of the places privileged by the Romans and not for the celebration of weddings.
