  • The history of Chiesa di Santa Maria della Consolazione dates back to 1470, when the temple was consecrated in honor of the Comforter Of The Virgin - for the last consolation of the condemned to death, who ended their journey on the neighboring Rupe Tarpea, including the convicts innocently... Which, of course, have been saved... The current church building was rebuilt in 1583-1606. designed by architect Martino Longi, and the facade (baroque, of course) was completed in 1827 by architect Pasquale Belli. The church is certainly interesting, both in its architecture and interior decorations, where you can see not only significant works of art, but also pretty models from the life of the Italian town... Visited the church with great pleasure, which and all other tourists wish!

  • This church is not Rome's most beautiful and interesting church and also has a sad history: Here those sentenced to death were prepared for the last way and therefore the church is called Saint Mary of the Troestung. Inside a little too dark.

  • Beautiful façade, in a quiet and calm of the Piazza of the same name, next to the slope of the Capitoline Hill (where the condemned to death in ancient Rome were played) and near the Roman Forum. I passed it by chance when I was driving to the amphitheatre Marcello. I decided to login to view the interior is simple, without too many decorations, with few frescoes, but nothing that is featured. It is not a compulsory Church to visit, unless you're very close and have time to take a quick peek.
