  • The San Saba, Rome is located in the heart of the little Aventine, one of the most elegant districts of the city. Through a staircase leading to the inner courtyard, accessed inside of sober and refined Church where you can admire frescoes cosmatesque floors and delicate columns. In the silence and darkness, exudes an air of mystical elegance.

  • for those interested in history and archaeology, the "Basilica di San Saba" is icing on the cake! All we know from the beginning of ' 900 and in particular after the ' 21 when the districts of Testaccio and San Saba. Though her story is lost in time. Was founded as a monastery on the little Aventine (after the fall of the Western Roman Empire). We start from 6th century (with Gregory the great), in the Vii° of hermits settled on the ruins of the barracks of the seventh Court of vigilant until arriving at recent renovations to the early ' 900, highlighting the architecture and medieval alterations. around the Church have arisen then popular quarters which enchant for their refined architecture but made with poor materials. The little Aventine is a happy island not shocked by modern construction. For the Interior we can't say if the visitor "can read" between the archaeological layers, among the materials used, including paintings, arcitettoniche solutions, remains as it were dazzled and fascinated by such beauty and ... history. The apse leaving breathless cosmatesque floors very well preserved, kidnap. Deserves to be visited and studied but not hastily but calmly ... very quietly.

  • The door of the church there is a hole. Looking and spying on the dome of the Basilica of St. Peter in the background. A secret thing and little explored
