The Church of St. Julian of the Flemings (Chiesa di S. Giuliano dei Fiamminghi, Sint-Juliaan-der-Vlamingen, Saint-Julien des Flamands, S. Iuliani Flandrensium) is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Julian the Hospitaller, located in Rome, Italy. Historically, the church has been the National Church in Rome of the Southern Netherlands and, in 1830, became the national church of the Kingdom of Belgium.
According to tradition, the church was built when Flanders converted to the Christian faith, during the pontificate of Gregory II (715–753). The little church is part of a Roman building that was once the hospice of St. Julian of the Flemings, built to shelter pilgrims from the county of Flanders (Belgium). Its official denomination since 1979 is "Royal Belgian church and Foundation of Saint Julian of the Flemings" (Koninklijke Belgische kerk en stichting Sint-Juliaan der Vlamingen, Eglise et fondation royale belge Saint Julien des Flamands).
In the Consistory of November 26, 1994, Jan Pieter Schotte was appointed the first Cardinal-Deacon of St. Julian, a position now occupied by Cardinal Walter Brandmüller, created in 2010.

  • La via del Sudario, hosts two beautiful churches. This Belgian, first was a sort of hostel for pilgrims Belgians visiting Jubilee. Beautiful seventeenth-century statue of San Giuliano, on the façade. On the same street, close to the Church of Sant'Andrea della Valle, Shroud, perpetually closed, miraculously found it open. The first photo that I will post the following two will be Belgian Church of the Church of the shroud.

  • San Giuliano dei Fiamminghi or Church of Saint Julian of the Flemings is a church dedicated to St. Julian the Hospitaler. Very beautiful, although small.

  • Probably we wouldn't have ever seen and noted as it confuses a bit with the building in which it is inserted. Strolling towards Largo Argentina, after seeing Sant'Andrea della Valle, we can say that there was noted otherwise would pass really unnoticed. For the more curious, among the many small churches, there's also this.

  • Perfect acoustics for solo Cello concert. Little church. Beautiful room. Lovely cello concert. Walk to the church and look for an announcement on the front door about concerts coming up. Buy ticket online.
  • Nice.
  • Wonderful!!
  • Church of the Flemings, also of the Flemish Cardinal Jan-Pieter Schotte who is buried there. For us as a family a special church. But for every Catholic Fleming a must when visiting Rome. Make an appointment beforehand (you will be spoken in Dutch) because otherwise you won't come in. Nor do we.
