  • The Ludovisi Museum houses a beautiful collection of haute couture dresses from the late nineteenth to the middle of the twentieth century, with accessories and vintage jewelry. The villa also exhibits paintings, including a truly beautiful Balla. Admission is free and the villa is well maintained.

  • On a private visit, access is highly regulated, because the place is still inhabited- I was able to visit this Casino, the only surviving building of the sumptuous Villa Ludovici, destroyed in the 19th century and whose land is now partly under the constructions of Via Veneto. One admires ceiling paintings (these are soggy, not frescoes) of exceptional craftsmanship, made by the Guerchin and dated 1620: a triumphant Aurora, surrounded by flowers and putti, on his chariot pulled by horses (a response to that of Guido Reni, at Casino Pallavicini-Rospigliosi), a round of putti, The Fame with the long trumpet, carrying the olive branch symbol of peace and other beautiful paintings made in the side glasses. The icing on the cake, upstairs, in a small room quite low ceiling, we discover on the ceiling the only mural (oil, not fresco) of Caravaggio. Commissioned in 1599 by Cardinal del Monte to decorate his studiolo of alchemy, it represents, in reverse diving, in an unlikely position, Jupiter and his eagle, but also Pluto and his dog and Neptune, accompanied by the sea horse - symbols Astronomical. A surprising discovery, very different from the palette and subjects treated by the artist and, for me, the sudden thought that I was climbing the steps of the spiral staircase that Caravaggio had also climbed long ago.

  • There is NOTHING here !! TODAY, 7 April 2019 everything is locked. I came to see one of the DACIAN statues that suposed to be here according with the App "Statui de daci".... I could'nt get in. Nobody here. Locked. No info anywhere.
  • Had a marvellous birthday treat here to see the Caravaggio ceiling. A fascinating building with an equally fascinating history, and a very gracious Principessa.
  • The casino is the only remaining part of an immense country house that stretched throughout the area, from Via Veneto to via Salaria (!), victim of the building disaster perpetrated in Rome after the Unit of Italy. It is the private property of the Boncompagni-Ludovisi family that still lives there, and therefore can only be visited on certain occasions. Inside there are several works of great interest. On all The Aurora of Guercino and the only painting on caravaggio's wall (curiously neither is a fresco). Here and there you can find small goodies, some Roman reliefs probably made from sarcophagi among which stands out a representation of the bullfighting of the God Mitra. The visit is extremely expensive, 20 euros only the entrance if you go with an association probably costs even more, and compared to other attractions in Rome do not know if it is worth it. Unfortunately, it is strictly forbidden to photograph inside.

  • A place in unique theory, between Guerrino and Caravaggio, in practice held so badly that I was ashamed in front of my friends that I had brought from France by making it a very unlikely figure. The list is long: You "Welcome" a lady who does not speak ne Italian nor English, she leaves you as soon as you enter, plus anyone could take away what she wants and as a Mastiff asks you insistently money as if you could escape. A garden kept terrible. Smell of moisture on the first floor and horrible modern crusts under the frescoes. No note, no brief information that can make you enjoy a place that if it did not belong to people so lacking in culture would be a jewel of Rome. We came out with endless sadness.
