  • So many monuments and streets are hardly an other German Rome dedicated to the poet who was born in Frankfurt and natural scientist Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. In a well-kept Museum in downtown is an exhibition devoted to the German Prince of poets, who illuminated other personalities, who lived in a shared flat with the Rome travelers - for example, the artist Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein. The Museum can be reached on foot and is located between the Piazza de Venezia and the Piazza del Popolo. Right next to the fan shop from AS Roma. In contrast to other museums in Rome, the admission price is relatively cheap. Among other Europeans under 25 years and students get discounts. Some original documents are presented to the visitors. Also, you can find out lots of information about German intellectuals who have settled among others during the world wars in Italy. Just not interested in Goethe thus come at their expense. People who have little interest in German culture, the exhibition is not recommended - all interested parties exciting facets are presented an unusual shared apartment and German academics in Italy.

  • We kept this museum/house on our last day in Rome. We visited Keats-Shelley house day before and the girl at the cashier there told us about Goethe´s house and said- but our (Keats-Shelley house) is m...  more »
  • Until 13 November in this sprawling Museum and can be visited a beautiful exhibition in tribute to the 300 years of the cemetery of foreigners in Rome, the pyramid of Cestius. This cemetery for Shelley's "the most beautiful and solemn I've ever seen," many writers and artists have been inspired by this charming and peaceful place where cats are circulating and come closer to visitors. In this rich exposure and well laid out you can admire paintings by Turner, Schinkel, Munchen, Roesler Franz, Sablet etc, but also works from the permanent collection of Warhol, texts and drawings of Goethe is much more.

  • Small, nice museum about Goethe in the house where he stayed while in Rome during the years 1786-1788. Nice original details are to be seen, as well as the famous window where Goethe was depicted by Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein in 1787. Plenty of literature, also lighter books about Goethe in Italy for sale.
  • It's a fine little gem, worth visiting for half an hour or so. It's at the Via del Corso and must pay attention not to overlook it.
  • Can you do if you like Goethe
