After entering through an unassuming door and climbing two sets of stairs we both weren't prepared for the sheer beauty of this experience. We had a short 5 min wait by a busy bearded man who hadn't e...  more »

After several stays in Rome, today I have discovered one of the most beautiful corners of the city. Almost no leaves in the guides, but I think is one of the indispensable for any art lover. A library containing an infinite number of manuscripts, among which we can find works by Galileo and Kepler. The place with a light that highlights her beauty has excited me. The two huge Globes which is present at the input have loved. UNFORGETTABLE

  • Impressive
  • Great library, bright and quiet: a perfect place to regain focus and study. Courteous staff. Two steps from Pantheon.

  • Visited by chance passing by the close traverse where the entrance, almost hidden. A treasure trove of beauty and wisdom, worth seeing, particularly the Hall with the Globes, a wonder that makes you want to go back to the times when the study was not to all but scholars were worthy of the name!

  • Magnificent. Should be made more accessible

  • I don't know why the user's comment below has written that the library is open only on Mondays from 11.30 to 12.30. In fact, the library is open every day from 8.00 to 18.45 less on Saturdays it closes at 13.30. Maybe then referred to the timetable of the free guided tours to monumental Hall, news however incorrect anyway because the Salon is open daily from 11.30. However, check the news on the site of the library

Where to stay in Rome

For easy foot access to most of the city's main historical sites, consider staying in Rome's old town center. The area is conveniently placed for public transport, only a walk away from the city's main railway station. Accommodations here span all hotels sectors, from cheap hostels to luxury brand names. To avoid the steep prices and overcrowding of the town center, explore the hotels in the inner suburbs of Rome. They offer comfortable rooms and excellent food at a fraction of the price charged by the centrally located hotel chains. Another affordable option is the area around Vatican, which boasts a good selection of family-owned B&Bs.
