Where to stay in Rome

For easy foot access to most of the city's main historical sites, consider staying in Rome's old town center. The area is conveniently placed for public transport, only a walk away from the city's main railway station. Accommodations here span all hotels sectors, from cheap hostels to luxury brand names. To avoid the steep prices and overcrowding of the town center, explore the hotels in the inner suburbs of Rome. They offer comfortable rooms and excellent food at a fraction of the price charged by the centrally located hotel chains. Another affordable option is the area around Vatican, which boasts a good selection of family-owned B&Bs.

  • Beautiful little tea room with tasty healthy options. My body seriously needed this at this point in my vacation! The staff were very accommodating and nice. I had the strawberry spinach salad and pea...  more »
  • At the base of the Spanish Steps, you will find Babington’s Tea Room. It is a little piece of England in Rome. It opened in 1893 when Isabel Cargill and Anna Maria Babington came to Rome on the Grand ...  more »

  • Expected great tasting coffee and cakes. They were actually below average for an average place. For the well overinflated prices (€6.50 for a cappuccino) it's even more of a let down. I guess they rely on tourists and not return business.
  • SUPER OVERPRICED!!! I came here and ate brunch with my boyfriend, he ordered eggs Benedict and I ordered the rice pilaf with chicken. Both were okay, but nothing special. What really got me was WATER IS 6 EUROS and a glass of orange juice was 9 euros. Our brunch total for two came to almost 100 dollars. I recommend, if you do come here, at least get the Apple crumble. That was delicious.
  • They have totally nailed the eccentric English tea room. Great tea and scones and a lovely shop full of loose tea. Spent ages in there. Perfect after a day of walking, looking and shopping!
  • great té, good variety, nice ambience it is a little more expensive than average but it worth it.
  • Nice tea room with gorgeous scones, but very over priced. The house blend tea is amazing. Unfortunately our waitress was very un-interested, and came off quite cold to be honest.
