This time I visited the garden of Friars supported in Santa Croce in Gerusalemme. Full of special plants alone deserves attention. There are organized tours with agronomists that explain the historical value of some plants. The garden is part of an archaeological complex which includes the Basilica with its treasures, some museums and areas once built, the remains of the Palace of the Roman Empire.

Despite knowing little about Elena, at least from reliable source, his happy moment was when in 324 a.d., as the mother of Constantine, he named Augusta and confirmed his residence in Rome. In this area to the Southeast, in the palatium Sessorianum (formerly called Sessorium) Elena was distinguished by a remarkable activism in contrast to ample shade that characterized the life of her son. Speeches or lodging by you facilitated in this area have made an archaeological area one of the most interesting of the city while being, even before, already been chosen by rich Roman families to set up their own domus horti, elegant or facilitator a "certain" Patron. Until it passed under the imperial rule and under the Severan dynasty, he built an imposing Imperial Palace. Subsequently, Elagabalus added an amphitheatre (so-called Castrense), circus (Vary) and many nymphaeums, while Alexander Severus had built a large bath house (now called terme Eleniane Thermae). The Aurelian walls built in 271-275 a.d. downsized in the complex. In the second decade of the third century, and then in conjunction with the presence of Helen, the complex met his last phase of splendor with transformation into Sessorian Palace. This complex of approximately 122,000 square meters. It was subdivided into a private part (including the residence of Augusta and the dignitaries of the Court) and a public hub was the civil basilica known as the Temple of Venus and Cupid. Elena transformed the ancient Villa's atrium Severiana, adapting it to the Palatine Chapel dedicated to the cult of the cross of Christ which is still applied in the present Basilica of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme. Regarding the residences for visiting dignitaries of the Court by Elena termed domus domus and portraits of the fountain were opened to the public-this past July 7-in their entirety after the restoration works that have uncovered three new environments than those already acquired.

Where to stay in Rome

For easy foot access to most of the city's main historical sites, consider staying in Rome's old town center. The area is conveniently placed for public transport, only a walk away from the city's main railway station. Accommodations here span all hotels sectors, from cheap hostels to luxury brand names. To avoid the steep prices and overcrowding of the town center, explore the hotels in the inner suburbs of Rome. They offer comfortable rooms and excellent food at a fraction of the price charged by the centrally located hotel chains. Another affordable option is the area around Vatican, which boasts a good selection of family-owned B&Bs.
