  • There are no-traveller walks. But there are even more travelers who do not have their own paths. Quoting Flaubert, for us, serial walkers among the beauties of the Eternal City, passing in these places is an indispensable added value. We're fascinated by it all the time. Also and especially from the Arch Farnese overlooking via Giulia, one of the most beautiful and characteristic streets of Rome disappeared. It may seem neglected, but we like it that way, when the icon cascades down from the parapet almost half-height from the road, paved with the classic dark porfido. Not when it is pruned, indeed, removed completely, and for us it is a cause for regret, because seeing it lush and dominant pleases us and moves us. As after sunset, at nightfall, with the lights of a soft yellow that accompanies our stumbling under the vault, turning it into a romantic love story.

  • Nice building
  • The element that characterizes the Via Giulia is the arch Farnese realized at the beginning of the XVI century, the project was much broader, to think that the overall work was dedicated even the great Michelangelo Buonarroti, with a bridge you wanted to connect the buildings of Family Farnese of Trastevere and these in via Giulia. Of the Majestic project that was interrupted, remains in the street this beautiful testimony (it was to be the first arch of the bridge). Note This place together with the Fontana del Mascherone always in Via Giulia, is part of those painted by the great painter Ettore Roesler Franz in the series of "Rome Vanished", 120 watercolors of the size of about 50 x75, made between 1878 and 1896. The artist with these representations, wanted to save the image of places of ancient and popular Rome that were already disappearing at that time, thanks to him so we can have the idea of how the city still showed in the NINETEENTH century. This beautiful collection (now available 119 paintings) is present in the Museum of Rome in Trastevere.

  • Direct testimony of Michelangelo's unfinished project for a bridge between the properties of the Farnese family on both sides of the Tiber (was supposed to connect Palazzo Farnese with Villa Farnesina on the embankment opposite), this small Monument represents the gateway to the via Julia built on order of Pope Julius II Della Rovere, crowning an ideology based on modernization and reorganization of the city, as a new backbone can directly connect the Capitol at the Vatican.
