  • This arch that is located on the road leading to the holes, looking inside "the arch" you will see below you the holes. Great view. It is called quatins because at least I read in the area that during the rains, the area below being lower than the rest tended to flood and create a quagmire. Here it's worth passing.

  • This arch which was one of the entrances of the Roman forum, great views and many ruins to see.

  • It is a stone arch seen from the form of Augustus in front. Because it is surrounded by the large ruins of surroundings, it can be seen as a small, but it is possible to see in front of the side of Batacina on the back of the gate immediately, and the size and the construction are understood well.

  • Only these three columns remain.
  • On Via Tor de' Conti, you will meet this Arch, simple, no frills (formed with large rectangular blocks), but that at the time it was created had a great importance, that of connecting the Holes with the Suburra (which was an infamous area of Rome , the current Monti ward). Its name indicates that at that time with frequent flooding, this area became a "pantan"; these calamities caused several diseases including malaria. Seeing some photos from the 20s of the last century, before the "guts" were carried out to recover the area of the Hole, you can see that it was still present via Bonella that crossed the Holes and arrived in Via Tor de' Conti, as in antiquity Today it is a very beautiful and evocative place, because it is used by tourists, as a "window" to admire the Holes.

  • Was the gate that divided the hole from suburra and throughout the centuries has undergone various transformations.
