Impressionante! Il priori aggettivo che mi è venuto in mente vedendo questo spuntone di roccia arenaria sui cui è stata edificata la Rocca e la chiesa! Bello il percorso panoramico per salire in cima.... more »Awesome! The priori adjective that came to my mind seeing this sandstone outcrop on which was built the fortress and the Church! Nice scenic route to climb to the top. I would improve the information boards maybe rebuilding better the story and development of the fortress. The potential of this place is huge so it would be nice to fix up the homes that welcome visitors taking the scenic route. How nice it would be to sleep in the Castle! I would have done.

La biglietteria del castello si trova ai piedi della scalinata di pietra, accanto ad una piccola chiesa dedicata a San Pietro, da poco restaurata e visitabile. Il castello è gestito dall’associazioneP... more »The castle is located at the foot of the stone stairway, next to a small church dedicated to Saint Peter, recently restored and open to visitors. The castle is run by the rafterjohn of San Leandro and the entrance is free of charge. For more information on schedules and prices, please visit the website (a little dated as structure but with many useful info). To access the rocca you must climb a steep staircase that leads into the inner courtyard of the Castle. Around the courtyard are arranged several locals all accessible, starting with the room of weapons, where is a flamethrower. In the room of torture instruments were arranged some of the tools used in medieval times to extort confessions. Very nice idea to organize an exhibition of photos and local legends, including the best known is the one linked to the figure of Hannibal Crow, Crow said, and Corvis de mano "! Legend has it that the Lord of the Manor had attempted to reintroduce the "droit de seigneur" and that he had been stabbed by a husband dressed as a bride, and then knocked off the cliff; before dropping the Baron would have placed her bloody hand on a wall, from which it would not be possible to delete it until the collapse of 1940! The Tower of the castle can be visited, climbing a few flights of steep stairs: and from there the view is even better! Beyond the legend, if you like castles, that diRoccascalegna recommend it because in addition to being beautiful is also very impressive! Be careful climbing under the Sun because the risk is to take a sunstroke (despite it being November I have had a few problems) and careful especially if you have children: If you love heights (like me) the castle with stunning views and without too many "barriers", but for small children might become dangerous, if you do not pay due attention.

Non fatevi ingannare dalla "periferia" del borgo con case un po' raffazzonate e anni '70..proseguite e già dopo la piazza appare un borgo incantato, ben tenuto e che preclude al meraviglioso castello.... more »Don't be fooled by the "periphery" of the village with houses a little patchwork plays and 70 years ... continued and already after the square appears an enchanted village, well maintained and that precludes the beautiful castle. The guides are all volunteers who love their land and giving all the information you need. Even the Mayor is personable is in love with his country, first promoter of the place! Great job for those who want to exploit an area that offers great wonders that need some publicity!
Beatiful place. Nice to visit in september, during the evening. Not crowded
The refurbishment works completed about 15 years ago made this castle a little gem in the core of Abruzzo. It was exactly 18 years since my last visit and despite the size of the castle are not impressive, the location and shape are something remarkable you should not miss if you come in Abruzzo.
If you like medieval defensive structures this is a must see, Amazingly cool Castle! Sadly most of information is only in Italian so for the rest us that don't read Italian will have to just imagine that history of this place :s
Must see castle!
