  • Very special Hermitage carved into the rock. You arrive by car to the entrance, there is a free parking. The chapel can be visited with a guide for an additional charge, which gives you access to places not visited by those visiting without. We found ourselves in a very unique place, quiet, fresh, full of meaning. It is easily accessible, with some very high step, but still doable. After the visit you can walk for five minutes a picnic area surrounded by woodland and well equipped. Really recommended.

  • This important complex carved into the rock and to it firmly anchored, is located in a narrow wooded Gorge among beech woods that thick lining the upper part of the Valley of the holy spirit that opens on the Rocky buttresses Majella. The Valley takes its name from the story that takes the monastery arose for an apparition of the Holy Spirit with a lable that promised forgiveness of sins (the pardon) to all who would went on pilgrimage. This promise collection by Peter Angelerei, the future Pope Celestine V, took him to live in a small cell that today is located below the main church (rebuilt in the sixteenth century in Baroque style after an earthquake). Ruined monastic buildings, from which you can admire fantastic views and the Holy stairs leading to three rock-cut levels, lead to the chapel of Magdalene, last hermit monastery perched this incredible level-. Not to be missed!

  • It is a half an hour walk from the parking lot at the b&b. But well worth the effort. It is a very special and old place and not to imagine how this ever. Be sure to go far if you are in the area.

  • One of the shrines around celestinian della Majella, maybe not the nicest, but still extremely impressive, nestled in the rocks and greenery, with an organization that (finally) works, an exciting guided tour, a mysticism that oozes from every rock, marred only by tourists who show up in flip-flops and swimsuits that roam the ancient pathways of Pietro da Morrone as if they visited the beach in Ibiza. But in fact, the sensitivity is becomes an opinion. However, even if the visit is not too complex, ladders are steep and slippery, especially in the final descent for which flip-flops are strongly discouraged for reasons beyond spirituality!

  • Hermitage Gigantic! For free you can visit the Church (rather bare, but immediately inside on the left there are plaques with historical and artistic description of the entire Hermitage), while to visit the Hermitage you have to buy an expensive ticket. 3 euros. The Hermitage itself, inside, has a high visual beauty; However, walking inside the tunnels and passing from the various rooms you wonder if you thought that was all built by men with his bare hands, especially since the Hermitage extends over practically 3-4 floors in height. Unfortunately it is still in the works, and even the total absence of indoor signage and explanations (the brochure provided at the ticket office is inconvenient consultation) is of no avail to the beauty of the place.

  • Clinging to the mountain, built with granite warm cream of Majella, at the bottom of the sound of the stream. All simply delicious. The restoration was done really well and the people who run the place are prepared and courteous. What about; Good, good, very good!

  • Very impressive and easy to get to (you are driving) than other hermitages around celestinian. Bella permanent exhibition on Beuys into the rooms of the monks.
