The Bastion, Riva Del Garda

(4.6/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
A steep walk up to The Bastion rewards you with unbeatable views over the town. Built following the end of Venetian rule in the 16th century as protection for the town and its inhabitants, the building was later destroyed in 1703 by French troops. To reach the grey stone fortress, you'll have to climb uphill on narrow zig-zagging paths under the Italian sun for nearly an hour, so wear comfortable shoes and bring a supply of water to keep hydrated. Once you reach the fort, there is a small cafe to refuel. Savor the well-earned views before making the trek back down. • You can get there in a few minutes, the trail is easy and once you arrive you can enter into the walls of the bastion: simply breathtaking. The view then is fantastic and is definitely worth a stop in the adjacent bar.

  • Brisk walk among trees along a road to get to the bastion. Absolutely stunning view on shore, the bow and the entire alto Garda. Repays the effort to climb

  • Droga to bastion is not complicated. You can even climb with the pushchair. Types of open amazing. Throughout stand benches where you can sit and admire. In the evening the road beautifully illuminated. There were plans to climb there and in the evening, but unfortunately, not yet.
