Trail 2, Riomaggiore

3.8
#6 of 8 in Parks in Cinque Terre
Hiking Trail Nature / Park
Trail 2, also known as Sentiero Azzurro, connects the five villages that make up Cinque Terre. Hike through terraced hills covered in vineyards and olive trees, with panoramic views of the sea and the picturesque towns you will pass. Stop in each town to explore before continuing to the next. You may choose to hike the whole path, or choose a smaller portion, depending on your stamina and desires. Some of the paths include many stairs, so be sure you are prepared with good walking shoes, water, and plenty of sunscreen. You can buy a day trail pass, which includes transportation on the park buses and access to the trails. For a little more money, another pass allows you to ride the train between Levanto and La Spezia as well. Arrange to visit Trail 2 and other attractions in Cinque Terre using our Cinque Terre vacation builder.

  • We started early in the morning for fear of heat (we became justified), from the beautiful Corniglia with direction to the Vernazza. The trail starts with a slope beside the second Tower and without any problem continues inside in pines and the olives to the destination where we chose. Several steps, more than we imagine and one ascent on the 450 meters from the surface of the sea make up this two-hour trekking Good physical condition is required and familiarity with the hiking, unfortunately we met quite a few people where not fulfilled at the minimum the necessary conditions for participation at the specific project and endanger health and the physical integrity. The mountaineering boot deemed aparaitio to keeps the ankle from potential strampoyligmata, which for most of them ignored. Does there is nothing dangerous in the whole story, just ignorance is the worst enemy in the crossing of the beautiful piece of all of necessary water path with you

Where to stay in Cinque Terre

It's hard to go wrong with accommodations in Cinque Terre, home to some of the most charming hotels and bed and breakfasts in the country. Choosing among them depends largely on what you want most from your trip. Consider spending a restful vacation on the hilltop to enjoy the famous ocean views, or plant yourself somewhere closer to the shoreline in Riomaggiore for easy access to beaches. If you expect to spend lots of time exploring side streets and local shops, opt for accommodations along one of the main streets in any of the villages. Though it can be difficult to find inexpensive lodgings here, there are some more affordable options in Manarola, the smallest of the five villages, and Monterosso. You can even stay at a hostel in the national park if you want to be close to nature.
