Piazza Cavour, Rimini

4.6
#5 of 25 in Sightseeing in Rimini
Landmark Tourist Spot
With roots dating back to the 13th century, Piazza Cavour represents the historical hub of Rimini's social and political life. Though the Piazza Tre Martiri is considered the center of the city, this square is much larger and shows the development of Rimini during the Middle Ages. Walk through the piazza, sit at a cafe, and take in views of the Pigna Fountain, Pope Paul V statue, and many nearby palaces dating from the 16th century. Pause to take in the pieces of history side-by-side with the bustle of everyday life in this busy square. Browse the stalls of the buzzing on-site market if you're visiting during its hours of operation. With our world travel planner, Rimini attractions like Piazza Cavour can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • A bit of history. Piazza Cavour as the main historic symbol of Rimini attracts many tourists chic facades of palaces built in the middle ages, the famous fountain of the "Piña", which is still admired by Leonardo da Vinci and the monument to Pope Paul V, around which there are legends. The small size of the Piazza Cavour combines different era of urban life. It is easy to feel, if a little on the wide sit staircase of one of the palaces in the square or enjoy a cup of coffee in the restaurant while enjoying the Italian Sun and views of the oldest landmarks. The history of Piazza Cavour likely history of the Piazza Cavour in Rimini originates in the period of the Roman Empire. It is known that in the middle ages, the area was an important political and cultural center of city life. Then it was called Piazza Fontana or Municipal area. After joining Arch August straight to go to Piazza Cavour, stroll through the area, consider the fountain "Bump" and the statue of Pope Paul V, drink a cup of coffee and enjoy the spirit of old Rimini. RECOMMEND!

  • Outside the cliché of Rimini sea and entertainment when you get in this square you have the surprise of true Rimini. Gorgeous square with many bars or restaurants where you can eat or drink something outside the holiday crush.

  • Walk easily, do not worry about entering the city from all sides here all the streets. Great place for a photo. There is a café, ice cream, restaurant. Sometimes passes the flea market, although doubts the authenticity of antique goods (I suspect that made in China). You can sit on the steps of the free vintage back on benches.
