  • I was there just this morning, in total solitude, so I could appreciate in my time and my ways. First, the view is absolutely free in order to entice the citizenship to visit and learn about these examples of art that range from five to six hundred at the forefront. There are mostly southern artists, and particularly of the Neapolitan school and Sicilian and calabrese, of Flemish influence and inspired by Caravaggio. Some works are French artists and even from the Veneto, and clearly a specific area is dedicated to Mattia Preti, with two pieces of particular interest. The collection is well divided into six sections, with introductory scheme and most important authors of cartoons that introduce the admiration of paintings: religious subjects, biblical episodes, still lifes and scenes from pastoral atmospheres are the favorite subjects. Personally, the highlight of the exhibition is "stillness" by artist reggino Joseph Benassai: really beautiful in its simplicity and emotional directness. Finally, among the paintings of the family Vitrioli stands out a copy of the "Virgin with child" by Raphael with veil and frame paintings, with a surprising optical effect. Especially the works of the twentieth century have a substantial interest, such as a sketch of a fisherman Scilla of the celebrated Guttuso or the "song of songs" with gaugainiane and surrealist influences. In my opinion, the show should have a brochure you can buy and each piece should be at least accompanied by a caption explaining. However, it is possible to book a guided tour, all for free. The choice of the premises is superb.

  • A well maintained, excellent choice of works. Interesting only fault is missing an illustrative booklet.

  • A wonderful collection of regional painting, which you can see completely free of charge. Some of the canvases are very impressive. The museum itself is small enough and 40 minutes.
