  • To get to the Church of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo you pass. But the remains that we could see, definitely imposing, rather than a building, according to several scholars, should refer to the remains of a guard House dating back to the 7th-8th century, built to guard access to the building at the time it was inhabited by the Governors of the provinces, on behalf of the Emperor of Byzantium. That structure follows probably a similar building of Constantinople called whitewash, i.e. bronze, for its colossal bronze door and hence would result the naming of lime or plaster casts for the building of Ravenna. Obviously deserves a break.

  • Very nice facade but remains only what can only do imagine and dream what it was at the height of its splendor ... remains a mystery ... remains very close to Sant'Apoliinare new ...

  • scanty remains of a building that reveals rigour and sobriety from what is perceived by the only windowless façade. Interesting, perhaps even to the mystery that surrounds the dua real intended use
