  • We bought the ticket for the sightseeing in the Centre of Ravenna to € 9. Very beautiful mosaics. Well worth the visit. Mark also paid Museum the first Sunday of the month because private and not public.

  • It has been suggested that the basilica was built as court Church of Theodoric the great, because next to it are the ruins of the Royal Palace. Strict brick walls, marble columns and three rows of beautifully preserved mosaics-this appears before the gaze of the Basilica. After the conquest of Ravenna Byzantine mosaic part was filmed and uploaded again, but some survived, including mosaics depicting the harbor and the Palace of Theodoric. The throne is separated from the main part of the temple an openwork marble fence.

  • If you've made it all the way to Ravenna, odds are you will be seeing this no matter what. It's nice that they have chairs set out where you can sit and view the full mosaics without having to strain your neck so much.
  • Fabulous! Some sumptuous mosaics. Wierdly the Baroque additions and frescoes rather spoil the effect.
  • Great artwork inside. Was half thinking of missing this but glad I didn't.
  • Outstanding frescoes.
  • Lots of mosaics describing Jesus and the Saints in various stages.
