  • The expectations were high and were not fully respected to say the truth. It is still a very beautiful basilica and see if you have the time to spend on art and culture.

  • Should visit, easily can spend an hour, hour and a half. Recommend. You can buy a pass to visit Saint Vicole, the Basilica and Baptistery within one week
  • Lots of mosaics describing Jesus and the Saints in various stages.
  • Built by the barbarian king in the VI century, it holds very pretty mosaics of the saints
  • Beautiful mosaic.
  • The Arian Theodoric erected for worship. Justinian era was converted to Catholicism. For the first time in the West are represented graphically the miracles of Christ. In the last judgement Christ (good Shepherd, as Galla Placidia) is surrounded by red and blue sheep. Everything is peaceful, even in scenes that are supposed to be dramatic. Because of iconoclasm, has lost any basis for comparison with the East.

  • Sant'Apollinare Nuovo is in Ravenna so it is easy to visit with the other monuments. Its interior remains fascinated by the beauty of the wall decorations to be observed very carefully to grasp details and curiosities. The processions of virgins and saints are particularly suggestive and interesting, but there are also other scenes of great interest. Definitely worth the visit.
