Baroque, Gothic, and Neoclassical styles grace the facades of the buildings in Ragusa Ibla. A Catalan-Gothic temple that once rested on the square was destroyed in the 1693 earthquake, but you can still see bits of it in a portal at the Cathedral of San Giorgio. Look for the 250 steps leading up to it. Down the narrow streets and in a small square, you'll find the oldest structures in the city, all with carved detail that categorizes them as Renaissance, Gothic, or even earlier.  Use our Ragusa trip planner to visit Ragusa Ibla on your trip to Ragusa, and learn what else travelers and our writers recommend seeing nearby.

  • I shot all over Sicily and Ragusa is the most beautiful city I've seen. Much to visit, quiet, nice idea of seeing her with small train. Very chic and cheap as "turn of the screw should be advertised more: eat well, are very chic, have large spaces, are suitable for everyone (families, couples, singles ...) and are cheap too; what is more close to the Cathedral.

  • Ibla is the most ancient and historic Dubrovnik: nestled between the slopes of the mountains, is a maze of narrow streets whitewashed breeding churches and palaces that are masterpieces of Sicilian baroque. The town, which is reminiscent of an old crib, has exactly clear his vocation for tourism but at the moment it seems yet to have an eco-friendly and respectful openness to this little precious treasure of humanity (Unesco).

  • The Duoma Piazza is a lovely place to enjoy a Granite and watch the world go by. The buildings are wonderful and really a bit overpowering so it's nice to just sit and relax after a long walk and loads of steps.
  • You can literally fall in love with this place! Very unique, full of antique buildings (it has been rebuild only once in the last 350 years) and full of a very good restaurants and bars. It's also the town of a 2 Michelin Stars restaurant, Il Duomo, owned by Chef Ciccio Sultano.
  • Charming place to visit, enjoyed very much the garden. Just over priced compared with other places.
  • The most beautiful place we visited on our trip to Sicily so far.
  • This is Unesco protected city
