Ragusa Ibla, Ragusa

(2,600+ reviews on the web)
Historic Walking Area Tourist Spot
Baroque, Gothic, and Neoclassical styles grace the facades of the buildings in Ragusa Ibla. A Catalan-Gothic temple that once rested on the square was destroyed in the 1693 earthquake, but you can still see bits of it in a portal at the Cathedral of San Giorgio. Look for the 250 steps leading up to it. Down the narrow streets and in a small square, you'll find the oldest structures in the city, all with carved detail that categorizes them as Renaissance, Gothic, or even earlier.  Put Ragusa Ibla on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Ragusa vacation generator.

  • Not too accessible but once there the walk through and dining was worth it. Gardens were nice. Seemed like a real town with some tourism rather than a tourist spot.  more »
  • Wonderful that such a beautiful area is not overcrowded with tourists. Unfortunately the trees that graced the main piazza became diseased and had to be cut down which slightly reduces the beauty.  more »
  • This old part of town is lovely to wander, it's largely a pedestrian zone, there are many little laneways and streets, all leading down to the main thoroughfare and piazza. You have to be relatively f...  more »

  • The Duoma Piazza is a lovely place to enjoy a Granite and watch the world go by. The buildings are wonderful and really a bit overpowering so it's nice to just sit and relax after a long walk and loads of steps.
  • You can literally fall in love with this place! Very unique, full of antique buildings (it has been rebuild only once in the last 350 years) and full of a very good restaurants and bars. It's also the town of a 2 Michelin Stars restaurant, Il Duomo, owned by Chef Ciccio Sultano.
  • Charming place to visit, enjoyed very much the garden. Just over priced compared with other places.
  • The most beautiful place we visited on our trip to Sicily so far.
  • This is Unesco protected city
