  • Perhaps one of the most lugubrious, and more extensive, you'll encounter along the cassia. This fortress was conceived during the Renaissance to disrupt and slow down the March of an army towards the heart flat and vulnerable part of Tuscany, but this true door of the Grand Duchy has always remained shut, waiting for an invasion that was never apparent, except perhaps the Allied advance to the retreating Germans (who some resisted here), but when fortresses and ramparts were bells and whistles now useless. important historical evidence then to see first hand the power of deterrence, thinking how fortify this strategic location has been costly for a small State like Tuscany. little curiosity, still in the middle of the eighteenth century housed the last two cannons taken to the Republic of Siena, when with the arrival of lorena Spanish Guard has been replaced by the Austrians. a mythical place

  • Maybe the best view over Toscana, great architecture and impressive historic importance.
  • The view from this place is incredible!!!!! You will be looking down at airplanes!!!! It is a rugged fortress that will have you imagining what medieval life was like. The trip up to the top of the tower is well worth the many steps you will climb. The cost to enter the grounds is 2 euro each.
  • Beautiful place and well maintained. Worth a short visit.
