Area Archeologica di Nora, Pula

(4.4/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
The ancient Roman and pre-Roman archaeological site of Area Archeologica di Nora is an open-air museum, which includes a theater, tower, baths, forum, and mosaics. Take a guided tour through the ruins to hear in-depth detail about the site. The ruins lie at the edge of the sea--some even sit underwater as Sardinia slowly sinks into the ocean--and the optional climb of the tower offers better views. • Worth a visit to the Roman ruins and the beautiful mosaics are visible in the House of the tetrastyle Atrium. Beautiful also the surrounding marine area with wide beaches and uncrowded. The Spanish Watch Tower (explored) offers a beautiful view of the Bay below.

  • Not visiting the site since 1992 and many things, fortunately, have changed; new findings (especially Roman, Carthaginian and Phoenician less) and new restorations were made, but many are doing. The site is gorgeous (the visit lasts 45 min), well cared for and is undergoing a painstaking renovation; Unfortunately, something is still missing: the bar (even in the off season) cannot be closed, parking lots could be improved, the path is not fully usable by disabled people. Despite this I highly recommend both to learn more about our story is to enhance our cultural heritage that we too often take for granted.

  • Strategic place since the time of the Phoenicians, who built a city and whose remains are still visible and visitable. A very impressive, with glimpses of the sea. Sea, obviously, sparkly clean. Absolutely worth visiting.

  • Amazing roman, Punic and Phoenician ruins, some of them very well conserved. You can actually see the three different cities and architecture with a special mention to the Roman theatre and beautiful mosaics. And all that in a beautiful place, with the sea at both sides, a Spanish tower up the hill and a white sand beach at walking distance. It's recommended to go by car but i took a bus without problem, just having to walk for 20 minutes or so. The entrance is 7'50€ which includes a guided tour to both the ruins and the tower.
  • Roman site, yes, it is only possible to view as a part of guided tour, however the guide provided a lot of information, I found it more helpful than just reading panels. Site is is a nice location and there's plenty to see. Just enough to go back to the beach.
  • Beautiful ancient Roman city, but the only way to get in there is with a guided group. Unfortunately the guide hurrys through the ruins and there is no time to get a closer look on the beautiful mosaics and buildings. And only 2/3 of the city can be seen during the tour.
  • Interesting place that takes you from pre Roman times to the end of the Roman Empire. It's good that they have knowledgeable guides, otherwise the place might not make much sense.
  • There are two guided tours. The first one includes the forum, therme, houses,... In the second one you'll visit the tower. Both tours durate 45 minutes and there is a break for coffee etc. At the parking area you should calculate with minimum 2.5 h for everything. Also it's possible to leave the tour after the first session.
