  • This is a delightful excursion in small boat, it was clean, friendly & relatively inexpensive, things that Venice is not. The colours of the houses are all different with canals throughout the island. ...  more »
  • If you are visiting Venice make sure you get out to explore some of the other island on the lagoon. Murano, Burano, Torcello and San Michele  more »
  • Arriving by boat from Brenta to Fusina and from there to the lagoon begins a journey memorable. The bricole, often rich housing local BirdLife, indicate steps in the vast expanse of water. On the left lies the outline of industrial structures of Marghera, on the right you can see a few smaller ones of the approximately 120 Islands. Of these some are about to disappear, others are uninhabited, others have been revitalised thanks to foreign funding. In addition to the most famous are Murano, Burano, Torcello, and visit the Lazzaretto Nuovo, interesting architecture, archaeological excavations, the inscriptions of various merchants and keepers that will have taken place and the island of San Francesco, or island of silence and solitude, which houses a Franciscan community for centuries and which according to tradition would also have welcomed St Francis. See then Venice from the sea is something else, even if they happen to meet the mastodons of cruise ships; the glance of Saint Mark's square, on the lido, on mill Stuky, on various churches is priceless
