The mad genius of Marquis Panciatichi was the realization of this castle of which we were lucky enough to be within the rare visits organized by the Committee to save this immense artistic heritage. The Peacock Room, the Hall of mirrors, of music, of lovers, India, Spain, from the throne, to Iran. And all the Woods around, with ancient trees, the twin Redwoods, trees of 10 meters in diameter, the wonder of wonders. For me and my husband has fulfilled a dream that hunted for years, who will take home as one of the finest trips we have made, perhaps the most beautiful, certainly the most beautiful indeed. It costs 7 euro (each way) because it is the one taking the Japanese to go shopping at "The Mall" where there are only big names, and which is right at the foot of the forest to get to Sammezzano. (you can in case Park there for free if you come by car). But apart from get on the bus with backpack and sneakers feeling a bit inadequate, is very convenient, because it makes no stops in between. After about 50 min. you arrive and ignoring the various two-storey buildings of various Gucci, Armani ecc.ecc. with much of the course, we headed into the Woods and the mind can finally enter into another dimension. Despite being July, into the Woods the heat not perceived or almost. Thanks to founder who in addition to the Castle, he embellished the park with beautiful American redwoods that I had never seen in my life. Tall, big and reddish stem, more than one hundred (numbered) beautiful. The road is easy, slow halls without slope and allows you to admire them in peace, a true relaxing walk in the fairy tale forest. Americana ... then came in on the view opens with an expanse of green lawn like those of Ireland and the castle of Sammezzano in the middle. I thought to find it in pieces, in fact from the outside if they note degradation, but the Interior is still beautiful! Some urge a restoration, it also lacks electricity, but the spaces are immense and airy. I recommend a visit in the morning to appreciate the colors, how I was lucky enough to do. Definitely worth a visit! The stucco and the notches on the ceilings are reminiscent of the Alhambra in Granada, with the difference that these being recent House of the twentieth century, are made with chalk, but are beautiful for crafting and coloring. Truly a rainbow of colors and originality! If you are lucky enough to be on the list for tickets, go for it! The volunteers then are very knowledgeable. Beautiful visit!show original
I used to stay here as a child with my parents many moons ago when it used to be a Hotel. I still remember the nice staff that always played with my brothers and me while my parents went to close by Florence for business. And of course the amazing rooms inside. The Hotel was always empty and we had the place so to speak to ourselves. It is such a shame that the place closed down and is currently just falling apart - due to a 'conflict' between the current owners. I had the luck of arranging a visit, and all these fairytale memories of mine about this place came back to live and proofed to be not just a dreams...
Federico DebettoA rare gem, absolutely must be preserved.show original
Andrea SgobbaA dream place, a corner of East in the middle of the Tuscan countryside, unfortunately, almost impossible to be admired because of the situation of the company that owns the entire complex. #savesammezzanoshow original
Massimiliano PrivatoHi, since a few years I try to visit it, visit online reservation system does not satisfy me at all!! Although rieco connect just the booking system snaps I found that even being able to enter data and transfer them into 30-40 seconds I can not log into the persons entitled to access. Have adopted a system that conceptually it seems logical but limits the entrances to slower with the keyboard.show original
Antonio RomanoI could see the Castle from the outside because it was closed. I just visited the Interior and having studied the thought of Ferdinando Panciatichi Ximenes d'Aragona, and pictures of the Interior, I realized the greatness and intelligence of this great man of 800 Italian. Unique and great creativity man. I will be booking to visit the interiors at all costs.show original
