  • Elba has a variety of unique and distinctive, and must be admitted: the stumbling block of Paolina is no exception. That's the fascinating story of Pauline (sister of Napoleon from which the rock would take the name), both for its proximity to the coast, it is undeniable that offers a distinctive and intriguing Sunburst on the island. That said, cut to the Chase: the three points earned in this beach are solely the result of a mere fluke. We arrived to the Paolina in perfect time to nail down the only hurdle remaining zone's convenient and spacious sunny (while the swimmers around found themselves perched on rocks or seaweed between the mountains uncomfortable dry and decaying, with the Sun quickly receded); also a second plus point is the swim up the rock that, although it is open only to a lesser extent, constituted a pleasant and enjoyable alternative to the usual days on the beach. We arrived at another time I fear that the experience would have been very different ... From above, in fact, clear water, and glimpsed the spur of rock sticking out just a short distance from the coast gives the whole an air of surreal ... However the conditions facing the beach are nothing short of demeaning. Dirt everywhere, and heaps upon heaps of seaweed (partially rotting) that invade the shore. And here I emphasize: it was a beach I could understand. But since 90% of the bathing area is Rocky not monopolized by the bar, and then to be able to settle into a comfortable spot is almost implicit rent a cot, they could at least make an effort to maintain a minimum of cleaning?! Even under the beds of the same bar there were embarrassing piles of seaweed (and beyond ...)! This inattention harms the people visiting the beach, not to mention the whole panorama, otherwise very impressive. So I repeat: our visit was pretty nice, but only for a one-time fluke. If you mean get off at Paolina prepare instead for the worst. One last recommendation: If, come here in the morning! Because after lunch time changing course untrimmed; the beach quickly, and soon became cold and windy, so that only the rocks remain in sunlight and useful to warm up after a swim.

  • Often I go there ... and I love it for its nature and tranquility! The barretto is lovely and young people who run it are funny!!

  • Who can would be good to go to the beach where they can enjoy, near Portoferraio, steer where legend has it that Paolina Bonaparte was sunbathing in skimpy clothes in front of the Court of Napoleon.

  • Beautiful scenery with crystal clear water and panorama on the islet. The beach is not very wide. On the sides there are several flat cliffs. Along the main street you can park (there are a variety of places, but generally enough) and then walk down to the sea in 5 minutes with a steep but smooth path in the Woods. In the steeper parts were created of the steps. On the beach there is also a restaurant and bar with beach umbrellas and deck chairs. Alternatively you can take advantage of the free beaches.

  • The favorite of Pauline Bonaparte and had good taste! Accessible by short path from the road. Beach equipped with small processing plant with bar and restaurant-very chic installation:-) Very interesting backdrops. Just parking on the street.
