  • An attraction that you can't miss. Enter the belly of the mountain and discover the lives of miners. All explained very well in safety, with a hint of curiosity. Congratulations

  • Visit the charming and interesting of the ancient copper mines (still active). However it is not suitable for those who suffer from claustrophobia, in the first part you are travelling on a train through narrow tunnels. Visit with family, two children of 7 and 10 years. Very good guide I was able to involve children. I advise booking especially if the weather is bad (just call us in the morning and is assigned an entry time)

  • Halfway between Rosso Malpelo and Indiana Jones are the prettau. Between Pirandello and Spielberg sinks into the past of val Aurina, in lean effort of his lost generations, in harsh physicality of his work, expressed here with the rawness of a verse from Genesis. Housed in the closed of the Valley and is small, modern and welcoming (the toilets are clean and there is also a general store and a food court). Harnessed to protective helmet is mounted on the train and waxed: the feeling of being Fair to Postojna Cave dissolves the tension of real estate for nearly 1.5 Km it sank into the bowels of the mountain. When you go down, here we enter in the path mining, explained with sober sense of "scientific" by the Guide. It is physically how our time get air conditioning, antibiotics and elasticized panties, should very stolid industriousness and ferocity of bygone days. You realize how the South Tyrolean wellness, seemingly cold efficiency of its people, Gush like an underground river from its past made of miserable and isolated lineages, that killing under the mountains to earn bread. And so while the geologist takes you between the gorges, canyons, the holes of which is imbued with the mountain, while you spend your fingers on that giant of rock worm-eaten by man and his wits, you feel reassured by how clever our offspring and at the same time willing to suffer. Curious also is finding out how-to nearly two kilometres under the Earth--there's a James Bond-style spa resort, with plenty of sunbeds to inhale fresh air and stainless steel walls worthy of more Romance den of Spectre. In short, a curious experience, informative and-if possible-tormenting. The ticket can also be accessed at the Museum. A brief visit there too can be informative, to root this subterranean history inside ourselves.

  • Mine Prettau mine are really worth a visit. It is a journey to the center of the mountain in a fascinating place and steeped in history. The guide who drove us was very brvava in tell us the life of mines, to show us the types of minerals and the history of the place. The trip into the mine begins with trenino who escorted us, for 1 kilometer inside the mountain (10 min drive), to the collection point of the visit. The property is well organized. Damage protection helmets and waterproof (even for children). There are changing rooms where you can leave any backpacks (unattended). The visit lasts about 40 minutes. I advise you to dress well (sweatshirt and jacket) in addition to waterproof which will give you supplied. In mines there are 7/8 degrees and the descent and ascent, have temperatures annoying. I recommend you visit before the mining museum Steinhaus. Will help you understand better. The mines can be reached by bus and there is a bar/restaurant and a picnic area. If you go with children better if they have 6/7 years. Have fun.
