  • You can reach them, the legendary "Costa Smeralda" with their main village Porto Cervo just a few kilometres north of Olbia. Here, not a single House was standing until the late of 1950s. Then discovered the billionaire Aga Khan the Idyll and began to create a holiday paradise along with other investors. Created a new architectural style, the so-called neo-Sardinian style that adapts to the rough rock and scrub landscape. An Exclusivparadies has been created for the rich and super rich and Porto Cervo was built. -All cleverly playful at the same time but wanted simple designs. You can criticize the development down to precious-tourism is happening only between late June to late August and a ghost town leaving the rest of the year. One must admit one however - the building hardly do better can be solved. Only 4% of the available area of the whole Costa Smeralda may be built. A House must be higher than tree height. No above-ground cables must be laid. Neon signs and billboards are banned. The connection to a sewage treatment plant of course. So the concreting to the Costa Smeralda was prevented until today. Porto Cervo, in August, shows a completely different face than in low season times. (We were already once in may here). In August, it's urban center of the Costa Smeralda with more than 40000 inhabitants. (In winter 500 inhab.) It extremely well we enjoyed during our visit in August. Noble store passages, small squares, winding stairs, imaginatively designed facades and all tip top clean. At the port, many visitors are the mega yachts and admire elegant cars. One shouldn't miss Porto Cervo.

  • During our holiday in Porto Cervo, we got the 'special world' closer and has something even if it is only as an observer here's this can be very beautiful. The Kullisse is simply special and unique and solte have seen live. We had only a few minutes from our hotel which was absolutely affordable to the Centre and the Marina. Here on the Costa Smeralda, there are countless beaches, which remain unforgettable and also there's scenic highlights is sufficient. A trip here is really to recommend with all its possibilities.

  • I don't like places where the fake and pseudo-set style reigns supreme. Will affect tourists eager of vision VIP, but a genuine architecture buff, i.e. ancient doesn't say much, to say nothing!!
