  • About the construction of the first nucleus of the church there is no news while it's certain the date that was destroyed due to an eruption of Mount Vesuvius, was on 16 December 1631. The work of reconstruction began in the spring of 1632 lasted about ten years and very active people's participation was to collect the necessary funds. The Church overlooks the central square named after the Saint, is marked by a beautiful Byzantine style façade with two towers with clock. The Interior is structured around three naves. Overcoming the high altar you can admire the painting of the Nativity of Mary by the great Luca Giordano. The second altar on the right side you can see the painting depicting the conception by Giuseppe Bonito while in the chapel which is on the left side of the main altar is placed the statue of San Ciro artwork of Ferdinando Salih. In the sacristy, you can admire other paintings by Luca Giordano and Giuseppe Bonito.

  • Well restored outside though unfortunately inside shows signs of infiltration in places, is a place of worship well loved by the people. A must for those who want to know the city is close enough to the Palace.

  • The Basilica of St. Mary of the Nativity and St. Cyrus has a Byzantine style façade flanked by two bell towers (each with clock). The Interior has three naves and is well preserved
