  • The fortress of Populonia the scenery that occurs is remarkable: the Gulf of Baratti and the sea towards the archipelago. Definitely worth waiting for the sunset to be wrapped completely in a suggestion only.

  • The necropolis of Populonia is located below the mountain, just a few steps from the sea. Want to traverse the entire Archaeological Park, more than 20 km walk ahead of you. We have explored the area during our first visit, located directly on the sea. Even here, you can spend easily 2-3 hours. What we have discovered is nothing with the previously visited necropolis. Here, the graves in various ways have been built up on the Earth. Modeled after part as the Tholos Tomb, partly in temples or homes. There are absolutely no murals, the graves are totally eliminated. This makes them but not uninteresting. It is unique that you will find here are the remains of a smelting workshop, where iron was produced from the ore. Also the location of the necropolis and the former settlement is unique. Populonia was the only Etruscan town, which lay directly on the sea. Applies also here: Please be sure the opening times and the siesta. Sturdy footwear is mandatory.

Medieval town where you can eat drink talking shop but on the whole the Tower a bit hard to climb up to Heaven what you see fills our hearts the Tyrrhenian Sea up to livorno elba boats indefinitely. .. super to see once in a lifetime
