  • To get to this castle is an enterprise: the short way is very steep and difficult, although fascinating, the long street is paved but infinite and both can be done only on foot from the town center. The signage is inadequate as well as warnings about the difficulties of getting there. However the castle is immaculately maintained both outside and inside. Enchanting history and mix of architectural styles represented. There are testimonies of daily life and artwork of past ages. Some rooms are amazing. Beautiful location overlooking the Valley of the Adige river with breathtaking views and many balconies. The Chapel is a jewel of unique paintings. Dear driving. The 7 euro entrance fee is justified for the maintenance of the site. To improve accessibility and directions.

  • The somewhat steep climb worth, as in a knowledgeable guide (registration required) explains the interesting history of this castle. Today one looks after private castle Club that includes two more objects, the Castle and the adjacent farming. Of particular interest is the well restored Knights Hall, which is sometimes used for small classical concerts.

  • Along with Feldthurns Castle, is definitely one of the must-visit castles in the Eisack Valley. Place above the village of Ponte Gardena (about 6 km south of Klausen), the building is accessible by a path from Piazza Wolkenstein (bus-parking) climbs up with a steep paved with pebbles (not recommended for children and those with walking difficulties, to be avoided anyway in case of rain), or for a road from the South of the country (cemeteries) passes under the highway and then further uphill (traffic prohibited non-residents). The visit is possible only with a guide and takes about 50 minutes. Inadvisable to bring children under 6 years. Beautiful and well cared for the exterior; excellently preserved/restored interiors. At the end of the visit you can see the rooms devoted to the castles of South Tyrol, with about 80 plastic, perfectly made.
