Where to stay in Pompeii

For easy foot access to Pompeii's archeological sites, consider checking into a hotel or B&B near the world-famous excavations. You can walk around the ruins by day and enjoy panoramic views of the area from your balcony by night. Centrally located Pompeii hotels are conveniently situated near the area's main road and railway networks, making them an ideal base for exploring the surrounding region and the Amalfi Coast. You can also choose to book your rooms in nearby Sorrento or Naples, which offer a wider range of less expensive hostels and self-catering apartments.

  • As part of our tour, we went to the Lupanar (brothels) where you enter via the narrow alley/street area, which is rather congested with plenty of tourists. As you enter, you view assorted Frescoes of ...  more »
  • Assuming that you know what this area was... we had a group of students, some with their mothers. During the bus ride back to the ferry to Spain, we held a contest where the students gave an oral repo...  more »
  • This is the brothel of ancient Pompeii. It is an obviously popular location with all visitors, so much so that there is an imposed one-way system to approach this building. It does get very busy but a...  more »

  • Lupanare itself is the brothel - it is now a popular tourist site of the ruins. The place is sorted to allow entry via one way and exit another. But it is not sign posted or obvious - so if you go the wrong way you get abused, redirected still with no clue where to go. The ruins themselves are better for walking - flatter walkways. But still not mapped well. Having now been 3 times I think the best way is with a guide. Also consider strongly Herculaneum - more preserved.
  • Very touristic st Ite in the ruins - but smaller then expected - when you interested in go but not amust
  • The guide was really informative. We only spent half a day here, we really needed longer. Lots of tat for sale outside
  • Extremely interesting place. This is the ancient red house of Pompeii and you can even see the positions the prostitutes used to offer to clients
  • One of the best places to see. Amazing that the"menu"was preserved. Love the 'pompeii GPS' (according to our guide - global penis system)
