  • of its kind. Besides a visit to the Museum which is really above expectations, you can make a visit outside. The latter option, allows you to enter in part of the old urban area, or rather the Acropolis, of Lavinium, territory that now is near the village of Pratica di Mare. For an historical reference, along the road linking the coastal area in question to Colli Albani, erecting two sanctuaries. In summary, the first such in the South was that so-called of 13TH altars, the second in the East was dedicated to Minerva. But let us stick to the shrine of 13TH altars dating from the sixth century b.c. and which took its name from the number of altars discovered, which to this day tell today turned out to be at least 14. The altars would be connected to the Latin League and in some way related to the nearby tomb of Indiges connected with Aeneas which ancestor of their lineage that landed just nearby. These plants are placed along the North-South axis and also oriented towards the East, aside from the XIV that has a nonuniform alignment. This approach made the place particularly engaging around Sunrise and sunset, when the strong shadows and bright red, dragging the devotee to a strong suggestion of religion. In the period from the sixth century until well into the second, the complex underwent changes, reconstructions and additions but at the end of the 2nd century the sanctuary was abandoned and partially dismantled facilities and let the altars or the audience along with votive objects. Material for building the yellow Tuff apart from a few remakes late in red Tuff; for their cultural function the altars were least colored red and U-shaped Greek tradition although the elevation presents Italian characteristics. The offerings of devotees were classical (common objects, terracotta figurines and ceramic vases) but was recovered a bronze foil interessatissima dedicated to documenting the presence of the Greek Dioscuri which would seem to worship done right in a Latin atmosphere. • Interesting Museum and the collection is presented in a modern and original. A must for those who, like me, are passionate about antiquity Lazio and the legend of Aeneas. Very great disappointment however when visiting the archaeological site (13 archaic altars and "Tomb of Aeneas") were refused. For those who make the trip from the Belgium or abroad in general, it is incomprehensible and unacceptable to not have access to this magnificent heritage.
