  • The special nature reserve of the Burcina Park-is a woodland reserve of approximately 57 acres. The Park is named after the main proponent of the Green and Happy Piacenza, son of the man who bought the first cloud — Giovanni Piacenza, the wool industry, a native of Newry, who in the first half of the 19th century decided to use as a park on colle della Burcina inspired landscape garden style popular in England since the 18th century. The first exotic plants to be planted (typically large redwoods) consisted of the lower part of the hill where, together with the creation of the first trails, was built in 1848 a small pond with fountains of particular beauty, present even today. The expansion of the Park was later carried on by Felice Piacenza who devoted over fifty years of his life, by making a spectacular basin of rhododendrons and implementing the construction of trails, roads and pathways as well as the planting of more exotic species. Don't miss the bloom from May to June in which you can see the blossoming of the fantastic Conca dei rododendri. Of particular beauty some nineteenth century buildings, located along the route, which are similar in architectural structure typical of Piedmont and nearby farmhouses Valsesia. This is a group of small farms and messes from curious names (Emilia, Bigatta, Philharmonic, Blackbird, Lorenzo, Wilhelmina and Venfenera top and bottom, in addition to the Blue House and the Red House) adibitati to the custody of materials for the maintenance of the garden. Generally with two floors, the ground floor housed the stables for cattle, a kitchen with fireplace and cròtin-sort of a small niche for basement-for storing cheese); upstairs the bedrooms were placed next to the barn.
