  • Very nice Castle ... and then the spectacular offering ... a delight ... and then you say ... lace is beautiful

  • A beautiful castle on the heights of the city, so a stroll up but there is a nice view from the top.

  • The castle of lace at the Centre overlooks the promenade. Always pass us when I come to lace. To enter just pay the ticket. Recommended for those who want to spend a day "historic". Congratulations to management.

  • Very nice place with great panorama.
  • If you're in Pizzo or even nearby the story of Murat (the King of Naples) and how he was imprisoned here until his execution is a very sad but enlightening one and well worth a visit. The views from the Castello are also fantastic. It's right next to the town square too which is nice.
  • Amazing place, you can go back in the past walking inside the castle. You cant miss the beautiful view of the coast from the terrace. Of course have a Tartufo is a must!
  • "Aimed at chest ... not to face" heroic's last words before he died. There is no fear in the tone of voice. Looking towards the sea which promised great victories and that instead the led until the end of his days, the same sea that separates him from his great loves: Carolina, Achille, Letizia, Lucien and Luisa. The history of the castle of lace is tied to the death of Joachim Murat, King of Naples, valiant, fearless man who was trying to Lace the victory and the reconquest of his reign and there met his death. Inside the Manor a historical reconstruction plays the last days of life of Joachim Murat, representing the different moments of the imprisonment of the King and his men: inside the cells, in semisotterranei, is reproduced their captivity; on the first floor shows the scene of summary trial against Murat; in the cell where the King spent the last moments of his life and where he wrote a farewell letter to his wife and his four children, on the second floor, is again the scene of confession of the King with the Canon Masdea.

  • The construction of the castle of Pizzo Calabro is linked to historical events of the aragonese period of Calabria. It was built in the 15th century by order of King Ferdinand of Aragon, now in Calabria to quell the bloody conspiracy of the barons concocted against him by some references, like Carlo Sanseverino, count of Mileto and feudal Lord of lace. After overwhelmed so bloody the conspirators, the aragonese King did increase much of the defensive system of his reign rehashing the castles of rioters as Belvedere Marittimo, Castrovillari and Corigliano. In 1487 he ordered the new castle of lace in order to increase the defensive strength of the Tyrrhenian side. The old Castle, which was completed in 1492, retains its compact volumes, consisting of a massive quadrangular body flanked by two tapered towers overlooking the town. Its trapezoidal part is above the sea although the masonry looks a little run down and affected by vegetation. The outside is decorated by a stone which divides the Constable's apartments based on grading from the top. The main entrance of the castle is provided by drawbridge on portal there is a plaque in memory of Joachim Murat, who was shot in 1815
