  • The walled city is a city walls among the best preserved in Lombardy and one of the most significant (historically and architecturally) of Northern Italy. The overall length of the fortified lines is approximately 2 kilometres, but what makes it unique is the succession of so-called "Pillboxes" dug by the barrel-vaulted halls novantatrè curtain wall which served as military housing, shooting locations and warehouses that form a system of interconnecting rooms among them, for a total of about 800 meters of covered walkway. They are now used as the location of public and local events, by prior appointment, even private. Then there are the walls of Gera, large fortified complex that reveals the tourist an eighteenth-century bastion defense completely preserved in some places only a few months ago the subject of recovery works.

  • The Festival of the city alone is worth the visit to the country, both for the quality and taste of the food and the beauty of the location. Is it possible at the same time make a guided tour of the village which leads to touch various monuments, museums and old prisons. The visit, led by volunteers, is rich and engaging.

  • I visited Pizzighettone on the occasion of the feast that volunteers organized every year from late October to early November. Inside the walls you can order the dish, a local bean soup with pork rind, or other types of items. You sit to the numerous tables set up for the occasion. The volunteers are friendly and efficient. The soup is good but very "fat". In the other rooms is a small market with wine and food products. To try at least once in their lifetime.
