  • This is a must-see destination when visiting Pistoia. The medical school here during the Renaissance was world-famous and the scalpel was invented here...
  • It is under this ancient hospital, one of the first in Italy, you can enjoy the visit to Pistoia underground (accounted for under a special review) and a very interesting School of medicine founded in 1666. Of particular value the frieze on the porch of the entrance of this place has become only a CUP and where there only a few administrative office. Singles waiting room that sees sitting on the chairs tourists waiting for Judah and patients who book medical appointments!

  • Pottery of the porch of the hospital are very nice artistically, but also lend themselves to other readings. I'm a rare document about the life of the humblest in the sixteenth century, the subject of the works of mercy, with a lot of realism. We are far from solemn representation of the lives of the wealthy classes, usually the subject of works of contemporary painters. If you want to appreciate details shot with a tele and calmly review the photos. You can also do a reading "industrial": Benedetto Buglioni, uncle of Santi Buglioni (author of 6 of the 7 corporal works of mercy) had been working in the workshop of the della Robbia and took possession of their processing secrets relating to glazing (some say with the help of a woman), a real case of industrial espionage. The process, however the simplifications introduced Buglioni despite partial expense of quality, reduced costs. In this way they could clinch in 1525 the contract for most of the pottery of the lodge, at the expense of Giovanni della Robbia (follower of the glorious della Robbia) who had to settle for providing the only rounds. A problem of payments (we are more and more nowadays!) led to the failure to deliver the seventh work of mercy. Missing work was made 60 years later by Filippo di Lorenzo Paladini, but these did not possess more secret robbiano of glazing, and limited himself to paint his pottery, despite showing fine.

  • Guided tour of the dissecting room and underground of Pistoia underground. Interesting insight into the past hospital stratified (and therefore of the city) and nice to see; 30-45 minutes 9 euro per ticket to guided tour.
