  • We can't go to Pistoia without visiting the Duomo. The imposing Bell Tower, beautiful Romanesque façade, on the cusp of two marble statues of the patron Saints (San Zeni and San Jacopo) is Frankie della Robbia beautiful decoration of the lintel with the coat of arms of the order of Saint James and the Madonna and child with angels. The Interior is very impressive with three naves divided by columns, I notice that the Romanesque is accompanied by Renaissance and Baroque interventions. Very important to the chapel of the crucifix that contains within it the precious silver altar dedicated to San Jacopo a precious relic. The crypt already existed in Roman times preserves artifacts found during a recent restoration. In the right aisle the beautiful crucifix by Coppo di Marcovaldo, in the left aisle the monument to Cardinal Fonteguerri designed and created by Andrea del Verrocchio, in the nave the beautiful pulpit designed by Vasari. This beautiful Cathedral is worth a visit, but I recommend unhurried to better enjoy such beauty.

  • Is one of the most beautiful squares in Italy. When you get from Via degli Orafi remain dumbfounded at seeing the Palazzo Comunale, the Cathedral with the Bell Tower, the Palace of bishops, the Court and finally the baptistery! A mix of medieval architecture, unforgettable.

  • Beautiful
  • Understood in Pistoia on a Saturday morning. I decide to visit the Cathedral. Just look cheesy stalls in piazza cluttered worthy of a suburban market. Dear Greeneries hunted your politicians unworthy to administer such beauty scarred by invasive junk Saturday. This square is not only of Pistoia but of all humanity.
