  • Really delicate fresco that gave rise to this shrine. The Virgin Mary, who allegedly sweated profusely for several days, appears sitting on the ground in the Act of nurse her divine son. The Church is characterized by a large dome built in the style of the Florentine Cathedral was designed by Giorgio Vasari. The Interior has a central plan with radial chapels. After the entrance there is a large vestibule with large frescoes illustrating the story of the miracle. Well worth a visit and a prayer.

  • The outside, massive and rough, not portends the beauty of inner structure, divided into a spacious vestibule and a widest part octagonal. High dome was redesigned by Vasari and stands strong and harmonious surrounding rooftops. From the breakfast room of bed and breakfast I housed, I could admire its beautiful proportions.

  • NI expected something important considering the view from the outside and the important dome that is part of the city skyline. Instead ... cold, the dome by inyerno looks like a concrete artefact. I mean very little to see and very little to tell.

  • On our way from Piazza Duomo, trying to find the way back to our car, a duome appeared at the end of a small street - and urged us to find out what it was. (We hardly ever use a tourist guide when we visit places and so we risk to miss something - or be surprised to discover something amazing). And it was astonishing, the Basilica which, somehow hidden behind the houses, opened up. I took some pics from inside, but the photos hardly can show what we experienced here.
  • Spacious interior really gives the empty space and scale for humility. You feel small inside. Which was the whole point. Large paintings adorn the circular design. Worthy of a visit.
