  • No doubt deserves to be visited. It houses precious works of art and a unique collection of monumental crosses painted in medieval times.

  • It is the most important Museum of painting and sculpture in Pisa, located in the square of San Matteo in Soarta. Located in the medieval convent of San Matteo, overlooking the Arno River with an elegant Pisan Romanesque facade and a classical façade. Owns a complete set of works of the main Tuscan masters pisani and, more generally, from the 12th to the 17th century, as well as archaeological finds and ceramics. Very interesting is the collection of the early Renaissance, with a Sao Paulo by Masaccio, the Madonna and child by Gentile da Fabriano, the Madonna and child by Fra Angelico and the bust-reliquary of San Rossore, bronze work of Donatello. The number and relevance of artworks it cherishes make San Matteo, perhaps less known site than it deserves, one of the most important museums in Europe on the subject of medieval art. A must see, that is largely the ticket 5 euros!

  • A hiden gem. Make time for it !
  • Medieval art lovers should not miss. Excellent collection of crosses painted Islamic ceramics and collection that adorned the facades of churches. Unique pieces the Madonna del latte and San Lussorio of Donatello.

  • Museum with a rich collection of medieval art of Pisa and not only unique pieces. The only flaw, and not just, is to be able to find it open at certain times of the year and hoping also that you do not get sick a keeper or it may close for lack of staff. By the way, the three stars are for the other two missing for mismanagement.

  • For the side National we revert... masterworks of course but the building is not the height of his ambition and could frighten some... However a good experience and a good discovery
